We pride ourselves in continuous innovations and improvements on the Sharp Machine. Back in the late 1970's, a young man named Ray Braschler, full of spunk and vigor made it his intention to start a sharpening service for local restaurants in southwest Missouri. As he researched the various tools of the trade available he became discouraged by the offerings. After sampling several available sharpeners he decided he would have to build his own. The results were incredible! His sharpening service became so popular that many customers started asking him to build them a Sharp Machine--what ever the cost. It eventually snowballed to the point he was primarily machining parts and building Sharp Machines. He has, on many occasions, designed and implemented innovative changes that have made the sharpener incredibly user friendly. Still popular with his clients, Ray occasional attends local gun and knife shows telling his story and sharpening a knife or two while he is at it.
While Ray is still active, his son-in-law, Donald Collins and business partner Reuben Mutrux, have taken Ray's Sharp Machine to the national stage. We are excited about launching RealSharp and bringing Ray's legacy to a new level.
Gene Hoffpauir has been helping Ray for the last 12 years by preparing the wood parts for assembly. He is now working in the shop with Don making parts and assembling machines. He is an active sharpener and participates in research and development of new accessories, promotes the Sharp Machine through articles on several sites, and on several web sites.
